I finished the Pikmin blanket! There was a quilting kit in my basement from the 90s and I wanted to try to make a quilt. My sister was playing Pikmin at the time too, so I decided to make a Pikmin quilt. I am happy with the results.
The blanket is 32 inches by 40 inches, so it is quite small. Some of the squares are not aligned properly. After resewing them on again in attempts to align them, it wasn't aligned. I guess I didn't measure the fabric properly.
I painted the characters on white fabric using Jacquard's Textile Colors. The paint was ironed on, but I haven't tested its resistance to water, soap, or detergent yet. I hope the blanket can handle my washing it!

Missed TCAF
I missed the Toronto Comics Art Festival this weekend! I chose not to attend, because I currently don't have spare resources to travel downtown. These be rough times, they are. I hope I have the time and resources to attend Anime North this year. If not, I will wait for Anime North 2015.
In other news, I am working on a Pikmin blanket. I recently put together a new duvet cover to replace my tattered one. While cleaning the leftovers of the finished duvet cover, I found an ancient quilting kit. My sister was playing Pikmin at the time so I decided to make a Pikmin quilt. It should be finished by Saturday.

Puccho and Kumamon
The Puccho Facebook fanpage needed an update, so I quickly drew line-art and added colour to it on Photoshop. A satisfying result, it is.
I added a few more icons, just for show. The page doesn't update very much.
Now back to cleaning.

Happy Birthday, Man
A bunch of friends and I had this amazing plan to surprise a friend with a body pillow on his birthday. The thing is, he is not the type of person who would want a body pillow for whatever reason. That is why we decided to get a body pillow of his favourite character of all time: Princess Daisy from the Mario Series!
In the end, we couldn't find one... so we made one.
With the help of skilled friends, I designed the image. A copy of the image was then painted onto two fabrics in a sort-of-standard size of a body pillow with fabric paint. (I forgot what size I made them.) One of my accomplices provided the stuffing.
To keep the large gift a surprise, we didn't stuff the pillow until after we arrived at the meeting place (which was a restaurant). The pillow was stuffed under the table and handed to the birthday boy right there.
Best awkward birthday moment ever!

I was hoping I could make the pillow look professionally made, but alas, I am but a novice.

Postcards

I think I just went through a short postcards phase.
While cleaning the basement, I found some thick paper. I decided to make postcards out of them, but I wasn't sure if Canada Post allowed handmade postcards being mailed. I asked the ladies at the nearest Post Office and the answer I received was yes-- they do allow handmade postcards being sent. I finished drawing on a small number of paper cards, added stamps to them, addressed them to friends, and sent them in the mail. I'm not sure if everyone's postcards were successfully sent to their mailboxes.

It was fun. I'll send more postcards again when I feel like it.

Sword Makers
LikeCOOL recently brought attention to a video on sword making in Japan. Living in this era where technology is advanced and with weaponry that could cause disastrous effects in one click of a button made me forget about checking out the state of traditional craftsmanship such as sword making.

Manga Farming

Koshi Kawachi, an artist from Japan, used the pages of old magazines and manga to grow plants with. He has a gallery of photographs on his website with pictures of the plants sprouting from manga.

MSN Messenger

Third and I were drawing Sesame Street characters. I drew a funny looking blobby bird while she drew a handsome looking Bert. I couldn't get over the fact that it impresses me no matter how long I stared at it, so I saved it.
She later drew a picture of Avatar: the Last Air Bender characters, and it was adorable!

Neon Art II
This is a post displaying my failure as a neon art enthusiast. I had trouble with my first work, because I didn't know what colours to use. I drew the line art, scanned, it, then used photoshop cs3 to see what I can do with it. The following are the different versions that came to be:

There is a third version that is drawn with pantone markers, but my scanner wouldn't scan the proper colours. I don't know how to set it to make it look exactly as it is, so I didn't bother to upload it. The second version (on your right) have two random purple spots in it. I didn't notice my mistake until after I saved a png file. I didn't save a psd file of it, so I cannot easily fix it quickly. I decided to leave the spots alone because I sort of like them where they are.

The third image in this post was also drawn using markers. I don't know if pantone markers are meant to be used to colour illustrations like these, but I'll do it anyway. Heh. :D
Now, I will be off to improve my so called neon art skills. Later!

Neon Art

I have this new found love for neon coloured art (preferably in a punk-like style). How did this happen? Where did it come from?
Well, I don't care. I like what I like, and now I like neon-punk-like art. That's another style to add to my favourites list.
I wanted to make neon art of my own, but I didn't use the proper file type or a good style. I failed with the current ones, but I'm going to work on making an inspirational few in the next 3 days. Hopefully my excitement for neon art will die down and I can work on a few more pages of Hetar.
I haven't been working on my comic Hetar until this month. I have neglected it in February and March! I'm such a bum. While working on Hetar, I will be working on 'Don't Speak to Mice.' I'm looking forward to rush through it before the start of May. Yay!
