It's chilly again in Toronto!
Now this is the spring I know. I'm quite happy about this past week's cold weather, but I'm worried about people falling ill due to the drastic change in weather and temperatures.
Well, here's hoping that the good weather helps me stay calm about upcoming term paper due dates and examinations.

Second day of Spring is Second day of Summer
It was what-- 26 degrees Celsius yesterday afternoon and supposedly the second day of spring. Toronto didn't even get a proper usual winter these last few months! I experienced more rainy days than snow days.
I don't like the heat and especially hot summer days, because I get rashes from them. If it's a nice and cool sunny day I could tolerate it, but no. This spring just happens to be the first summer of the year. The second one will arrive in May.
Guess I'll have to carry around a bottle of sunscreen and an umbrella with me everyday.

Are Oranges Orange Juice?
Every morning I feel tired, but instead of grabbing that morning cup of coffee, I grab a bottle of orange juice. A small bottle of orange juice (about 250 mL if I remember correctly) costs me $2.50 CDN per unit: a cost which eventually adds up by the end of the week. I'd buy them in bulk if I knew where to buy a box of that brand of orange juice I enjoy drinking. I eventually found out that the brand had 1.75 L jugs, so I started to buy one of those every week. It only costs about $5 per jug and it lasts the whole week when I use it to refill a 250 mL bottle every morning.
This last week, I had planned to buy a jug of orange juice over the weekend, but my father had a better idea. He was hoping to save the family some money, so he went out and got my mom to pay for 3 large boxes of oranges. I didn't know of the boxes of oranges until I saw boxes stacked up to my thighs when I walked into the kitchen right after arriving home Friday evening. My first impression was...
He told me that I would not need to buy orange juice because they (he and my mother) bought oranges for me to make juice. ಠ_ಠ Not sure if I should go out and buy juice to show how much I disapprove of his idea, or just make the damn juice out of the over 70 oranges we now have in the house.
Between studying for exams, finishing term papers, doing group assignments, presentations, and sleeping in the next 2 weeks, I have to find time to make orange juice. Well, if I found time to make this blog post, I suppose I have time to make juice.

March Toronto Comic Con 2012
Hobby Star hosted Toronto ComiCon, also known as Toronto AnimeCon, this last Saturday. Oie Lin and I got there at 10:30 AM and there was already a long line-up at the ticket booth. There was only one line that consisted of both people with pre-registered papers and people waiting to buy tickets at the box office. It took awhile before the line was split into two, but that was after the box office was opened at 11.
We got to the show's main floor around 12 PM and the first thing that caught my eye was this guy:
When we got into the dealer's room there was... a large Batman car!!
*Insert Batman theme song* Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na, Batman!
When I took the photo above, I wanted to insert a speech bubble with something random written in it. This is all I have to offer:
There were tables in the hallway outside of the dealer's room that promoted a few organizations and entertainment. The first table at the end of the elevators (the entrance to the convention's main floor) had Christian Potenza and his workmates having a meet and greet. The Ontario Ghostbusters were at the other end of the rows of tables.
Upon leaving the convention around 1 PM when it was getting crowded, I took two pictures of some of the main floor from the elevators.
Storm Troopers get their own photoshoot screen background! :D Maybe there could be specialized ones for Anime North this year. Hm... That's an idea: a room full of different backgrounds on screens for people to take pictures with. I'd prefer setting up scenes with actual items than a background image of them, but it's more cost-effective as a simple background screen. Maybe.
At the end of the day, this was what I brought home:
Two issues of Aliens, two issues of Stranger, and a one-day ticket.
Conclusion: This year's annual March HobbyStarCon was small and sweet.

Summer Wars
I like to rewatch my anime DVDs and recently I watched the movie "Summer Wars" again. The movie's like a more slice of life version of Digimon (according to a few friends of mine), but nontheless, it has beautiful graphics, a superb storyline, and loveable characters. I'm especially fond of Granny Saeke.
She can be kind...
yet strict.
I cried the first and second time I watched Summer Wars. I'm a big cry baby, which is why I try not to watch shows and movies too often. They leave a big impact on me and I always end up thinking about them too often (I'm still trying to get over Madoka Magica and the Korean movie "Daisy"'s endings).
What were bonuses in the movie were the many real world issues implemented in the story, such as artificial intelligence, the loss of close family bonds some children experience, and people's dependance on the Internet. It makes me think about my everyday actions and the people who I never speak to on the bus. What kind of life did they grow up with? How much do they depend on the Internet? And how would a super a.i. hacking virus affect their everyday lives?
Stuff like that.
I am tired. Need sleep, now. Turns out I'm going bald from all the work I do at school. I already have dark circles under my eyes. Anyways, until next time!
