The artist alley had some neat stuff there. Many things were expensive, some were well priced, and few were free.
Hand-made capsule people? So cool.
This couple on the left was popular at the convention. I saw them a few times as I was walking around. When Gurgit, my family and I got outside the South Building we saw them walking towards the convention building and asked for a picture. We kept taking videos and pictures of them because we thought they looked awesome even though we didn't know what they were dressed as (so we asked them). Turns out they are original characters (with great designs).
Best cosplay group I saw was the Beyblade crew:
Video extras while observing people:
I liked the Cardcaptor Sakura pair's costumes and the Ash Ketchum so much I had to comment on their actions.
I resized the images so that most of them are small. Let's look at some pictures from Fan Expo now.
The one on your right is a picture of a Neko cosplay and Mr. Kitty (?). I'm unfamiliar with the characters from the video game The World Ends with You. I just know what they look like because of its popularity. I haven't played the game myself.
Okay, so the first thing I look at is whether or not the cosplayer themselves fit the character. That's a yes for these two. Is the costume well done? Yes. Do they look like the characters they are trying to cosplay as? Yes. Bonus points for the hair and the giant cat suit. I like giant cat suits. Oh yeah, I'm not actually using points here. It's just that it sounds good when you use "bonus points."
Dharshi was dressed as Tonbury (sp?) from a Final Fantasy game. She got into her character and went around pointing her knife at random cosplayers. Damaged 9000 health points out of each of them she did. I should have made this picture bigger. Oh well.
There was a statue of the Silver Surfer (I think that's what he's called...) made out of I don't know what but I want to know. Is he made out of metal or wood? Maybe it's plastic. He could be a real person hired to model for the convention. That would mean he's been on that one spot without a washroom for more than 6 hours. Wow. If that's true, he must be a professional model. I wonder if a model would have back pain from having to pose like that for hours...
There were dolls in the horror section in the dealer's room. We took a look at them and began the nose picking frenzy.
Give the caption "grr..." to the last one there. Heh heh. People were looking at us when we were doing that.
I made a blog because the idea of being able to look back on what you typed about in the past almost whenever you want and almost where evere you want felt like a good idea. It's better than keeping a secret diary. Really. When some people find out that you have a diary, it's like they were suddenly inspired to go treasure hunting (for the diary).
Starting the next year (or the next week), I'll look back at the videos featuring anime conventions on my YouTube page and will most likely think: "Wow. I am such a loser." Yup. Then I would probably try to change my image for something somehow in order to make myself feel better. ... I need to improve my English and manners.
So how was Fan Expo?
It was pretty crowded for a Sunday, but come to think of it, it was my first time at Fan Expo on a Sunday. People looked so serious and intimidating until you actually spoke with them or watch them (for minutes) bursting into laughter. My friends and I were wondering what ever happened to those dances people used to dance in conventions (like Caramell dansen, Hare hare yukai, and the twist). Okay, maybe not so much of the twist, but I do wish. Some times.
Many cosplays looked well done and hard to make, but I am concerned with shortcuts people take these days that make it look a bit odd. Odd in a sense where I don't think the character would do that with their outfit, i.e. masking tape on clothing instead of hand-made clothing decorations.
When my friends, family, and I left the convention centre to eat at Tim Hortons, my friend noticed many Jonas Brothers items. Posters, T-shirts worn by children, people yelling their name in the streets. My friend guessed that there was a Jonas Brothers concert nearby, and sure enough, there was. We asked a young girl about whether there was a concert and she replied yes. They were having a concert in the Rogers centre (SkyDome).
I don't watch anime anymore unless I'm watching it with a group of people. Hopefully I can manage my internet time and real life time so that I can organize my life better.
I found out I am free to attend Fan Expo (August 28-30) on either Friday or Sunday. I initially planned to attend it on Saturday, but a family reunion for a month old baby came up.
On another note, an inch long black insect crawled out into the open on the carpet of my room a few minutes ago. I vacuumed it. I guess this means I need to clean my dump of a room.
How do people manage selling things through the Internet? I'm using Kijiji and people's replies on the products I put up there make me feel nervous. Especially when you have to meet the people in real life to exchange goods. Who knows--someone out there may have a diabolical plan to attack people from those meetings. Gah! I cannot get used to this.
I'm in need of money for various nerve racking things and money is the only solution to my problems offline. I'm pretty sure many people in the world is in the same situation as I am. If only I knew about how money could bring me happiness in the future, I would have saved all the money I spent and lost in my childhood.
Okay. The money I get from selling stuff through the Internet I will save for food.
Every time I wake up and walk to the washroom these days I think: "I'm walking?" My ankle's feels better in a way where I don't feel as much pain anymore, but something in the back of my ankle feels like it's jiggling. I'm going to see s doctor about that soon. The sad thing is that I may never be able to dance happily or hop around without feeling pain in my right ankle.
On another note, having a sprained ankle is as bad as having mosquito bites all over the body. If it's not pain you're feeling, it's a warm itchy stinging.
