Nemu Nemu

I was surfing on the net and landed on someone's LiveJournal. Their LiveJournal entries had comics about a toaster named Toasty. There was a website on the comic images, so I typed it (www.nemu-nemu.com) into my browser's URL bar.

It turns out the comic isn't about a toaster! Only those few pages were. The main characters of the comic are two [adorable] magical stuffed animal pups. With its clean lines and distinctive art style, I think I'm going to be reading about magical stuffed animal pups for a long while.

Markers

I haven't drawn with markers for so long that I almost forgot how to use them to make different styles of colouring with lines! I'm currently working on something similar to my 2006 art style. Hopefully the work will come out resembling the old art works yet have a style of its own. I'll be posting the finished work before the end of February.

I'm still working on Hetar and Don't Speak to Mice's story lines. Hopefully I'll be able to start Don't Speak to Mice in May and finish Hetar by the end of this year.

Girl with Red Stripes

I have a dream book where I write down my most vivid dreams unless they are about eating food. I once had a dream about a girl with red striped clothing, accessories, and possessions. She lived everyday trying to figure out what kind of person she is and how people would react to her different actions. She later meets with the boy in black stripes.

The boy in black stripes was from another dream about a boy who wore black stripes and never made an effort to communicate with people unless necessary. The only people he likes to chat with are people from online networks, which is where he meets the girl with red stripes.

I know my dreams are--if it's the proper way to put this--emo, but when I woke up, I just couldn't get the stories and the characters out of my head. I'd see the stripes, but I didn't know what their faces looked like.

I had this idea of making 5 short comic strips about the two characters, but I never really cared to draw them. Then came a recent conversation with my friend Third about how the emo culture on the Internet seems to have died down. For some odd reason, I felt like drawing emo people--not comics. Now I am attempting to draw a satisfying set of emo people. ... Huh: I felt awkward typing that last sentence.
